Golf Cart Insurance in Orlando & Central Florida
Whether you drive your cart on the course, around the community, or on neighborhood streets, a dedicated policy fills coverage gaps your home and auto policies leave behind.
What Does Golf Cart Insurance Cover?
Most homeowners policies only cover golf carts when used on your own property — and most auto policies don't cover them at all. A standalone golf cart policy provides liability and physical damage coverage wherever you ride.

Florida Golf Cart Insurance FAQs
The right policy for course play, community driving, and street-legal LSVs.
Is golf cart insurance required in Florida?
Florida doesn't require insurance on traditional golf carts used only on courses or private property, but Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs) — street-legal carts registered and titled with the state — must be insured like any other motor vehicle. Most HOAs and gated communities in Central Florida also require liability coverage regardless of LSV status.
Doesn't my homeowners policy cover my golf cart?
Only in very limited circumstances — typically while on your own property. Off-premises use, operation by family members in gated communities, and street use are generally excluded. A dedicated golf cart policy closes those gaps with real liability limits and physical damage coverage.
What's the difference between a golf cart and an LSV?
A golf cart is limited to about 15–20 mph and is not street-legal outside of designated communities. A Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) has required safety equipment (seat belts, lights, turn signals, VIN), is titled and registered with the state, can reach 20–25 mph, and is permitted on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less. Insurance requirements differ between the two.
What does golf cart insurance typically cover?
Standard coverages include bodily injury and property damage liability, medical payments, uninsured motorist (important in Florida), collision and comprehensive for physical damage, and optional endorsements for custom wheels, stereo, lift kits, and accessories. We regularly place $50K+ in accessory coverage for heavily customized carts.
Does my auto policy extend to my golf cart?
Generally no — traditional golf carts aren't considered 'autos' under most personal auto policies. Street-legal LSVs sometimes can be added to auto policies, but dedicated specialty carriers usually offer better coverage at a lower price.
How much does golf cart insurance cost?
A basic golf cart liability policy in Florida typically runs $75–$200 per year. Adding physical damage, accessories, and higher liability limits can push a fully loaded policy to $300–$500/year. We shop multiple specialty carriers to match coverage to how and where you drive.
Roll Out With the Right Coverage
We'll review where you drive, how the cart is equipped, and any community requirements to build a policy that has you fully covered.
